Classic Rivals Dyno Contest Needs A Ford Competitor
The person who was going to fill the Ford spot has had to back-out. We are looking for someone to fill this role. We also want to nail down a date for this October. The rules are on the web page RaceEngineChallenge.com. This contest is going to have one SBC, one SBF and one SBM. Maybe someday if the...

Re: Can A SBM Crank Be Machined for a 1.88 Rod ?
SBM rod journals are 2.12. May have to offset grind the journals to accommodate the oil holes. Send the crank to Shaftech or Ohio Crankshaft
(both in Ohio) and get the answer from professionals - or call them and see if they have already addressed the issue on a SBM crank.

Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
Just to join the conversation, we built a dyno mule engine to test/learn different EFI systems. It is a 383, AFR 195 street heads, Edelbrock base, heavily massaged cast runners that cut their length in half, 1000 CFM throttle body, Howard’s HR (CL180255-12), 231/235 @50 112 LSA, 1.65/1.55 rockers an...

Re: SBC rod to cam clearance
Check out Molnars’s stroker clearances rods. You may want to call them and give them your crank/cam specs and see what their
CAD system says.
I chose to go with Honda rod journals (1.888) so I could go with a BBC cam core. With a 1.060 BC and .440 lobe lift I have right at .050
clearance.

Give me all. I would be glad to help since I’ve been there done that. Be sure to leave a message since we all get so many spam phone calls.

Re: SB2.2 lifter angle & lifter bushings
Although things are getting scarce as time goes by, check eBay. I built several SB2/standard blocks off eBay several years ago. I would depress you if I told you how cheap things were when the teams dumped that stuff on the market and moved on to the RO7. Some of it is still out there, you just need...

Re: Three friends and a dyno
410 is the number. If you are thinking Olds you need to talk to Mark Remmel (863 206-3320) about the latest Edelbrock Olds heads. He is the one
who initiated and advised Edelbrock on the new heads.

Re: SB2.2 lifter angle & lifter bushings
You don’t need a NASCAR block with their different lifter bore angles. On a regular SBC block you will need to play with different rocker arm
and intake lifter offsets to make it work. Works with or with out bushings.

Re: Three friends and a dyno
Already have 6" Honda Carrillo rods and .866 DLC pins. CP Pistons is giving us a deal on custom pistons. Callies 3.75 2.45/2 crank turned down to 1.888" by ShafTech. Going with BBC cam core - less expensive than 50 MM and Mike says it makes no difference on the cam specs. Tri-y headers wil...

Re: Three friends and a dyno
If you were building a SBC for this contest (see “Classic Rivals” rules on the web page RaceEngineChallenge.com) what specs/parts
would your engine have. With the SBC gurus on this forum I’m looking for ideas to see if I’m going in the right direction before I lock in
on parts.

Limit of a stock type oil pump
After how many RPMs does a stock type oil pump, whether it is a SBC, SBF, or a SBM start to become a problem?

Re: Three friends and a dyno
Right now they are 1.75/1.65. Given the lift rule Mike says I need to change them to use the lobe he wants to use.
