Your pics bring back memories. When I was 16, there was a local gearhead who drove a similar Camaro with 2 fours poking out the hood, it was an awe inspiring sight for someone like me.
If you ever get any youngsters checking out your car with a blank look, they may be in a moment.

Re: Who races with a manifold vacuum gauge?
I had a crankcase vacuum gage on a road race car. In theory you can see if you have blowby or inadequate oil pump suction speed on the straits but in reality you're not going to look at it at maximum speed. A log would be much better.

Re: Mallory metal in the crank. How and were
Might be a stupid question but is it possible to thread the mallory and crank? Screw it in and weld it for good measure? Some F1 cranks do that, a bunch of threaded weights screwed into tapped holes along the periphery. It also helps to keep the weight as far outward as possible. Tungsten is a bear...

Re: Holley 390 4bbl, what is this?
I just took it apart and measured orifices. There's no choke horn and list# so I don't know what it was supposed to be. Here's what I found. Idle feed: .035 (all 4) Air bleeds: .063 primary, .042 secondary. main jets: .067 (all 4) There's no secondary idle circuit. The power valve is a dummy plug. A...

Holley 390 4bbl, what is this?
I have a used Holley 390 double pumper that I know nothing about. What is this? Is it setup for some kind of nascar use where I'm going to have to deal with air bleeds and other things beyond basic jetting? I have it on a near stock Buick 215 and have done nothing beside plugging the 1/8" holes...

Re: butterfly throttles
Throttle blades have an inherent advantage over slides or barrels. At partial opening they act as nozzles. A drive by wire can make much better low rpm torque by using that and not opening the blades all the way until higher rpms. In the case of a SBC, don't those Hilborn manifolds give an awkward t...

Re: vega vs cosworth vega
Any failures that happened to the later blocks that had the corrected silicon mix to them was a entirely different stress level in a race operation over what we did for the stock CV.Yes the early CV did get away from us with the silicon issue. But as I said that was handled. These where not a product...

Re: Two 4.2 v8's
The Maserati is a purpose designed high performance engine and the Jaguar is a Ford that must please everyone and feel strong at low rpms. I'm sure both are good for their purpose. I remember having a modern Jaguar and Ford T'bird at a gathering with their hoods open. Some similarities were noted an...

Re: jaguar v12 Custom EFI
The holley dominator ecu has 12 injector drivers and can control 12 coils as well, + dual wideband controllers. Theres quite a bit of choices depending on your budget that will work without needing to run two systems. Do you have experience with these? I know their website says 12 inj and 12 ign bu...

Re: jaguar v12 Custom EFI
so plan was to run the original distributor with the aftermarket craine optical trigger, and run two self tuning systems from F.A.S.T. one for each side of the engine. does anyone know if this would actually work? Don't even think about that, it's pointless and complicated with no justification. If...

Re: help me build a sbf stroker for truck duty
I beg to differ and suggest keeping the stroke reasonable so as not to have the piston unsupported at downstroke and rocking/sealing issues. That leads to detonation and generally being a sloppy engine. These blocks have cylinder lengths that don't keep up with the stroke clearance capability. Ok. ...

Re: PCV Valve I.D. / Selection
To the EPA it is tampering with a OEM emissions device. No it's not. It's simply a part unless it happens to be part of a certified emissions system and I assume an FE482 is not. A system certified by an automaker as being compliant depends on the individual parts remaining as they were during cert...
