Looks to me like the quick easy and cheapest would be pistons and a cam. ... I think upping the compression 2 points may Smooth out the idle a touch as well.

It is so funny to look at a vehicle incident recorder and compare it to what the operator says what happened. ... ie "I was driving 60 and the air bag went off then I chit the guard rail cause I could not see the road" when in actuality he was going 87 and lost control and hit the guard ra...

Back to the original question. Torque can be you worst enemy just as well as get you out of the hole. If you are unhooked on a slick track you'll get to watch the others race. How true. 1000 lbs of torque does nothong if the track can only hold 400 lbs, That being said..... that would not be a terr...

I think I would buy and blend a 4500 to 4150 adapter to that intake and use a good quality ( Dale Cubic ) 1050 carb and let it eat. we run a similar engine (434 w/smaller cam) with that set up @3260 lbs.

I always thought HP was a function of torque, It has been explained to me as torque is how much work it can do and HP is how long it takes to do it.
HP = torque X RPM divided by 5252

I like the double or triple 0 welding cable, much more flexible due to the fine strands, never had a problem with this.
