Crazy Idea...Rods too long
A crazy idea just came to me. #-o If I use long rods that put the piston out the top of the cylinder, can I use double or triple head gaskets to make up the difference? Wouldn't MLS gaskets work to raise the head enough to make a long rod motor workable? How long would it last in a raci...

Re: Large valves to small valves
This will be an end of the season big race. The track has named it " The Four Cylinder Nationals". This will be the 3rd year and they've pulled heads every year so far. I know they check valve size , check for porting and polishing, carbs are completely torn down to check for metering bloc...

Re: New Engine Problems.. Help please!
Not sure of your gas mixture but have you had carb checked? Could be running lean at the high RPMs. Do you run a holley 4412? power vale? power valve number? all vacuum ports blocked? leaking intake gasket? leaking carb gasket?

DOWN IN THE HOLE
I have a all out race engine (dirt) that will have the piston about 0.013 in the hole at TDC. Would you zero deck it or leave it? head is milled and thin MLS gasket will be used. Is it enough to worry about and worth the costs to deal with?

Re: what's a good 'clean as you drive' carb cleaner?
I use just plain paint thinner for everyday system cleaning. For bad gum ups use some of your laq. thinner. I run almost all gas out then add a cup of the laq. thinner and add about 3-4 gals. of gas and drive that almost out. then fill up as usual. every so often I add a little MMO or frans. fluid t...
