Re: single dominator vs tunnel ram
Here's a link to an article where they tried dual quad tunnel rams on a couple of different engines... http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/engines-drivetrain/sucp-0612-big-block-tunnel-ram-intake/ The 476 ci race engine gained about 30 hp and made more power right through the rpm range. The milder 496 ...

Re: New BBC Build Opinions
I'm not 100% sure about this but I think going quicker than 6.40 in the 1/8th mile puts you in the same category as a car running quicker than ten flat in the 1/4 mile. That will mean you'll need a full roll cage, competition licence, and a fair bit of other safety equipment. I think you have enough...

Re: Supercharged fuel system
I had to turn that image over... http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb121/jim_ss409/image_zpsyhkuyekg.jpeg Hopefully someone with more experience than me will suggest an appropriate pump, but with 550 hp and a front mounted tank, you can certainly use a mechanical pump. This question is better suite...

Re: 59 impala rear suspension for drag racing
By about 1963 or 64 Chevy finally reinforced the rear cross member to reduce the chance of it tearing out. I had a similar setup to your car,,, Tremec TKO 600, 1350 series driveline and 476 ci engine with maybe 550 hp. It wasn't exactly a drag car but I did run it down the track quite a few times wi...

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
I think you're right about the 60' time. It should be at least two tenths quicker in an ideal world. Seeing that this is also a street car, you will probably not have the ideal gearing and stall speed, but it sounds like tires alone will help a lot. I notice that you're running 128 mph, that matches...

Re: Take any port and raise it 1", what happens?
I raised the ports on a set of 409 Chevy heads and I think it helped quite a bit. The air has to turn more than 90 degrees on the 409 heads so I think raising the ports worked better on these heads than most. We gained about 50 cfm but I think we gained even more power than the flow numbers alone wo...

Re: Weiand MOPAR vertical cross 3x2 intake.
I think these are pictures of that style of manifold. I saw one for sale a while back and thought about trying to adapt it to a 409 Chevy engine. (the 409's have similar sized ports and spacing) I'm no expert but I thought it looked like a pretty good intake. http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb121...

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
i will do another cranking compression test to see if i gain any cylinder pressure. Off the top of my head I'd say the cranking compression is going to be pretty much the same as you've got right now. The new cam does have a little more lift which can't hurt but I'm guessing your old cam might make...

Re: BBC Camshaft LSA question
I'm certainly not qualified to give any advise but it might be time for a recap so that the people who know things can look at what you've got without searching through the whole thread. So far we know that you would like to run high nines in a 3,300 lb. car. This weekend it ran 10.8 @125 with a D/A...

Re: Intake Port Extreme Narrowing Before Bowl ?
This is a gas with gas properties and it does not have the physics of a race car taking a turn. Erland, I'm certainly not qualified to argue one way or another about this but I have often seen the "race car slowing to make a corner" analogy used. The air does have weight, and the fuel wou...

Re: Dynomation5 v5.16 released 4/10/2015
I'm a little afraid to download the upgrade. The way it is now, the simulation is reasonably close to the actual output of my engine but last time I downloaded an upgrade, it added about 50 hp to the top end of my horsepower curve. I ended up dumping the whole program and re-installing it to get bac...
