Scary low oil pressure with SB mopar

Hey guys, I am running an SB mopar. Last year I had a solid flat tappet cam, .002 on the rods, .003 on the mains, a remote filter with 7qts of oil, and a high volume oil pump. The block has a half fill, and on the street when the oil got to about 240 degrees (when I would shut it down) idle oil pres...

Re: HELP! Why is my cam so far out of degree???

Damn, I think some of you guys aren't getting what I meant when I wrote my original post, and I am not going to try to explain it either again. Mike (wolfplace) gets it. I got it figured out, and no it wasnt me! As much as I thought it was I ruled out possible being on the exhaust lobe by accident y...

Re: HELP! Why is my cam so far out of degree???

Let me ask this...what is more important, valve event timing, or intake centerline when degreeing?

What if when I degree the cam the valve timing events DO NOT correspond to the Centerline that the cam is supposed to be on?

Re: HELP! Why is my cam so far out of degree???

Hey guys, I really need some input here. I recently purchased a used Crower solid roller cam for my small block. I am reusing my Cloyes 9 keyway double roller timing set. I used this same timing set with my old flat tappet last year- I had that cam installed straight up on the key ways, and it was ...

Re: HELP! Why is my etcam so far out of degree???

The calculated c/l is based on the .050" lifter rise open, close Events, not ,050" each side of Max lift. A aysymetrica can shape will give a different c/l. Do it again using .050 lifter rise numbers. I am not sure I am understanding this....what do you mean .050" lifter rise numbers...

Re: Mopar SB solid roller distributor gear options?

Depending upon the engine design and where the gear is located, an OEM gear and front or rear bearing journal is cut off. It is then center drilled, a matching stub is turned onto the roller cam and pressed into place. Sometimes it is pinned as added insurance. I'm sure there are other methods, but...

Re: Mopar SB solid roller distributor gear options?

yes you can get an iron gear pressed on the AMPCOs are good as far as bronze go With a billet dist gear the Lunati Everwear gear has worked good for me. Sees street miles with a HV pump. Only a few hun miles so far but no problems. 10/30 syn if it matters Does AMPCO make a gear for Mopar? Is that a...

Mopar SB solid roller distributor gear options?

Hey guys, I have a older Crower solid roller grind that I am going to be running this season in my 408ci small block mopar that sees between 2-3000 street miles a year. I know that I need to run a bronze distributor gear, but wanted to explore any other possible options. I have ran a bronze gear bef...

Re: SB mopar Hydraulic Rollers

Personally no. They do share the same body and oil band location as the Chevy and Ford .903" as they are all the same body with different tie bars. Based on the block being used you need to check to be sure no issues with oiling. Some blocks will have to be bushed. I shouldn't have any issues ...

Re: SB mopar Hydraulic Rollers

the Morel .903" Ultra pros will go any rpm you want. You have to check the lifter skirting and be sure you wont' have any oiling issues. This lifter is good for 8000 plus Chris have you used these lifters in small block mopar before? What rpms are you seeing with them if you are? I know the Fo...

Re: SB mopar Hydraulic Rollers

Is there anything you are ok with sharing about rpm capabilities with the Hughes stuff you already built? What bout the ones in development? The lifters seem to max out at about 6500-6700. as the valve spring required for the combos is more then the lifters can handel so thats all they are turing t...

Re: SB mopar Hydraulic Rollers

I don't see how the hughes lifters will be much better than stock mopar lifters unless the internals are vastly different. It's been said the Mellings ae better than the Mopar lifters, the internals are certainly different. I run stock shimmed lifters in my 408 and they see 6800 every pass, some gu...
