Thank you....that will do it.
I never thought to lift the rear and remeasure the front end. It makes a lot of sense.

How to find center of gravity.
I'm am looking to adjust my 4link and would like to know where the center of gravity is on my car. I have seen the old estimates about it being in line with the cam....but I have a 4 cam engine and the car was not rear wheel drive to begin with so I think that estimate may be way off. Is there a way...

Re: Copper head gaskets on a street motor
I used a copper head gasket on my old saturn LLO block for about 4 years. Though the block was step decked and the gasket had the fire ring in the gasket (SCE titan copper head gasket). It was neccessary in my application because the engine would see over 20 pounds of boost on a regular basis. There...

Re: How often to change oil in a high HP car
You can always send a sample out to have it analyzed, then you will know if you are doing it too soon or too late.
If you put very low miles and it "looks good," change at least once year.

Re: Fuel types vs dyno numbers
WIth 9.5:1 I don't see much need for anything over 93 octane. Octane is a rating for the fuel to resist detonation. Race fuel, in general, does not have any more energy per gallon than 87 pump. If you can get away with running 93 then do it. Ethanol, in e85-e99 makes about 3% more power than gasolin...

That's A mortar tube. The funnel shape at the top is to help the soilder get the mortar round into the tube. Im note sur this is an accurate representation of exhaust discharge from an engine since there is a mortar round in the mix of things

Re: Turbo engine shut down
Turbos will stay spinning a little longer than 1-2 second. Mine takes about 10 secs to spin down when the oil is hot and thinned out...and that's with a 600rpm engine idle. Only reason I know this is because I could barely hear it when I pulled into the garage and wondered what that noise was... by ...

Re: Turbo engine shut down
Yes your concern is valid. A turbocharged engine should always be allowed to idle for a short time before being shut off. The reason for this is that a typical turbo impeller rotates at 10,000 RPM or (much) higher when the engine is running. If the engine is shut off immediately, the impeller may c...

Re: Megasquirt / Microsquirt
The HIE modules work by using a base or limp home set timing under a predetermined RPM. Over that RPM the MS sends 5v out tot he HEI module. The 5v turns the module on to read the timing advance signal from the MS...with the 5v signal off, the HEI module ignores the MS and uses the base timing (usua...

Re: Megasquirt / Microsquirt
I have used a MS2, MS3 and MS3x for GM DIS, Ford edis and currently coil on plug for a GM LY7 ( I also did an VW application a long while back too). If you are looking for only ignition, you could porbably save some money and get just the MS2. ms1 would probably work with the "extra" versi...

OOPS, My bad. I got thrown off by the Thread title...Well just consider my info for grinding valves. Seats are another story and I am not the guy to give advice on grinding them. LoL...Yeah, if your valve machine is anything like my old snap-on dinosaur, I can see how you think I'm out of my gord w...

I think its Kentmoore that makes a gauge that is very accurate in low pressure situations.. It read something like 0-3psi but on a very wide sweep gauge. It is in another pressure unit, and I can't remember if it kilopascal or mbars...I dought its in torrs. Any way, I think you would be better off u...

Re: Carbon As A Heat Barrier Coating? How Effective?
Carbon deposits can cause hot spots, thus producing detonation/pre-ignition. While it may be poor at transfering heat...it is also good and staying hot. Also remember that carbon has many, many forms. The carbon in the chambers (left over oil/fuel) is different in structure to the carbon of the coal...

Re: SCE Titan head gasket
It can still rock/lift...that's there my issues came. Had I pulled the engine and installed the head on a stand, it would have been a lot easier. Having an intake hanging off the side of the head on a step decked block still in the car...I was doomed to failure.v
