Re: Head hotspot

Hi, are the sharp edges of the deck around the intake valves going to get an hotspot for knock? I mean here: head.jpg Thanks I would think NOT unless it is a "knife" edge. Sanding it lightly by hand should alleviate any issue like that. You got it, unfortunately it becomes a knife edge in...

Re: oil squirters to rod/piston/crank clearance

Not metric, imperial! :D
I know that nothing shouldn't flex so much, but oil squirters jet is long and slim, so quite worried

oil squirters to rod/piston/crank clearance

Hello, any advice about brass oil squirters being 0.04 away from piston and crankshaft counterweigh at BDC, and 0.04 away from rod leg at half stroke?
Can't really get it further away from crank, piston and rod, that's the half way from everything: is 0.04 enough in your experience? Thanks

Re: LC160 camshaft at start

In general regardless of the engine in question I would say yes. Retarded ignition timing and too low of a cylinder pressure than what’s needed to let the starter spin the motor over will leave you hung out to dry! If starting fluid will not make the motor at least kick when cranking then you for s...

LC160 camshaft at start

Hello,
would it be difficult to start an engine with a LC160 intake camshaft?
Engine has VVT and intake camshaft is fully retarded at start up
Thanks

Re: Piston to rod small end distance

Would like to increase small end width to the maximum permitted for better support, without piston guiding. Would help to understand the application and the goals. How does one increase the connecting rod small end width? And why would piston guiding then become an undesired result? FWIW, the Packa...

Piston to rod small end distance

Hi, in a crank guided setup, how much should be the distance between piston and rod small end at the pin? Is that gap functional to pin lubrication piston side? Assuming a 4032 piston and steel rod, would there be any issue due to different material expansion? Would like to increase small end width ...

Re: Safe exhaust valves clearance

The lash the engine manufacturer lists, are only for the manufacturer's cams. Is the aftermarket cam company's lash recommendation for the Hot Lash or Cold lash? Is this an overhead cam application? Is the head aluminum ? Is there a rocker or finger follower, if so, what's the ratio ? Hi CamKing 1....

Unfortunately you shouldn't, as the hit on the lifters would be very hard.
That's the point

Safe exhaust valves clearance

Hi, I found an Euro manufacturer that sells camshafts with a lash ramp for an exhaust valve clearance (0.0078-0.0086) being smaller than the minimum advised by the engine manufacturer (0.0110 to 0.0149): isn't 0.0078 a bit too tight for a turbo engine exhaust valve, considering the valve stem elonga...

Re: Rusty King Race bearings

I can't touch and see these bearings but is this really a big deal? The rust is on the steel side of things. Would a little scotchbrite make things more palatable? For the cost they have, I can thrash them for sure Just curious me too if a little scotchbrite would make them 100% as they should be, ...
