Re: electric water pump problem

Art, Is this a motor with brushes or a brushless motor? Since the motor ran when it was tapped I would say the motor is still good. If it was my pump I would disassemble it and find out what is keeping the shaft with impeller from turning. Corrosion on a motor shaft will keep it from spinning. Just ...

piston compression height question

A friend gave me a very old NEW set of 327 pistons. The piston manufacturer is TRW. The piston number is 3020F. Can anyone tell me what the compression height is for this particular piston? I have been unable to find any info. Most pistons I see are for jobber applications for use in blocks that hav...

camshaft for 327 with 350 horse cam

I am in the process of rebuilding the original 327, with 350 horsepower, in my 1966 Corvette. The engine still has the original domed pistons (11 to 1). The camshaft has a few lobes that are showing grain on the edges. I am considering a cam swap to something comparable to the L79, any suggestions? ...

C2 Corvette front nose question

I purchased a 1966 Corvette that was partially disassembled back in 1975. I have all of the parts. The headlight assemblies, grill, front bumpers, and nose support rods were all removed. The car was stored outdoors in NJ for all of that time under a blue tarp. I stripped the paint from the car and b...

Re: 1967 corvette 327

On a recently watched cable car show there was a similar problem. It turned out that the intake manifold had been machined and did not fit properly between the block and the heads. Oil was in the ports and under the carb. Since it is apart anyway check the manifold. Also install the canister in the ...

Re: 1966 Corvette frame question

Peejay, I know that the steel that is removed must be replaced, I feel that I am more than exceeding the minimum. My main concern is the frame rail pulling during welding and causing distortion or twisting. I will take my time during welding allowing adequate time for the area to cool down before mo...

1966 Corvette frame question

I know that there are many talented and knowledgeable people that provide information on this site--I would like to tap into some of that knowledge. A few weeks ago I acquired a basket case 1966 Corvette. As I started examining everything on the car I found some minor rust through on one inner frame...

Re: 307 sbc crankshaft drilling for pilot bushing

I need to find a pilot bushing that is large enough to fit the hole in the back of the crankshaft.
The std GM bushing bottoms in the hole and just loosely flops around.

307 sbc crankshaft drilling for pilot bushing

A friend just called me with a pilot bushing problem. Background, he has a custom 1949 Mercury with a blown up original Mercury 3 speed transmission. He has another 49 Mercury transmission as a replacement, the engine is a 1969 Chevy 307. The engine to trans adapter is an Offenhauser. The pilot bush...

Re: Z-28 Damper and Flywheel questions.

When I was a sophomore in high school (1963), a friend of mine had a newly acquired 1957 Corvette. The car was a 283/283. Well, one day he was showing off in the student parking lot by highly revving the engine. I guess he revved the engine too high one to many times, the flywheel exploded. Fragment...

stock sbc 350 connecting rod weight?

I am doing some calculations and need to know the advertised
weight of a stock rod. I have been told that 615 grams is the average,
is this true? Thanks in advance.
