After you shut it off, look down into the carb and see if its leaking around the squirters.

Fwiw, I have read that a normal HEI can be used with the tbi and can make for an improvement. I have also read that checking fuel pressure is a must. Experts claim that even 1/2 psi can make a marked difference. You need an adapter fitting to check it. Not sure if this one is the correct adapter......

Need to scan it. May need IAC passages cleaned. CTS and TPS could also be culprits.
