Re: Increasing cam core size in a B.B.C.

Lets start with what color is the broken cam core between the lobes?

If its black you have your answer- cheap induction hardened core that has no business in a race engine.

Re: Valve seat angles

Warp Speed,

Be interesting if you shared what your current exhaust valve seat angle is at your day job.

Since these steep angles dont work for applications that need to go the distance. 8)

Re: Race Engine Challenge II

mandatory valve spring part number SBI 160-1144HP, to be supplied the day of the test, stainless valves min stem diameter 5/16.

Open rules other wise.

Tell me that wont put a handle on the situation.

Re: Consistency between Air-Fuel #s on dyno & in-car wideband O2?

if you add timing and it shows leaner there is a very simple reason why.

You are burning more fuel in the chamber instead of it exiting into the header.

not all of the fuel magically disappears when the plug lights, in particular the unatomized parts.

Re: DARTS 9* MISTAKE

evidently brodix didnt get the memo based on this new canted valve 9* BBC head being made, or any of the other successful heads with less then 9*. why dont we talk about the angle that actually matters in the cylinder head, instead of the angle everybody wants to bench race about. the angle of the p...

Re: Max desirable diesel CR

the pull tractors that wont run with out a full can of ether until they are warmed up are around 10.5 to 11.

much like a gas motor, you take compression away with the big boost. the higher output new pickup motors are lower then in years past.

Re: Flow Bench Bore Ring

Personally im a believer in having a proper length cylinder under the head. Dont have any proof to say its necessary, and have heard its not but i will be incorporating a proper length cylinder in the new fixture im going to start building real soon. We want to have the testing situation as stable a...

I have a 6.7 cummins head here i need to put some improved seats in that will deal with being over heated. was looking at the 90000 durabond or sbi N. Any other recommendations for extreme heat in a diesel?

Re: Shorty headers blowing blue flames on race cars

i was just thinking of starting a thread on this the other day. we all know the virtues of a scienced out header on a N/A motor. 95% of these nitrous cars i see being built with fenderwell headers all have primaries in the 20" range. There is no ? they will be down on power compared to a tuned ...

Re: Looking for a family hauler/tow vehicle...need opinions

hauling a family of 7 and a 30 camper you need a 8.1 suburban or a 7.3 excursion. everything else is peeing in the wind, except maybe the 454 burban. Dont be tempted by the 6.0 gas or ford 6.0 diesel. The 8.1 is very reliable and tows quite well, i own one. only repairs you can expect would be exhau...

Re: The valve lash keeps getting larger

look for bind on the side of the pushrod cup in the rocker, as in you need a 210 radius instead of a 180 pushrod.

Since its a sharp rocker, lay a straight edge on the body and see if they are yielding and bowing. Ive seen it before. the SBC sharp style rocker is not very strong.
