25w40 is the oil mercury uses in the marine engines, which is just a SBC. I own a shop and when I work on boats with a SBC it always gets the quicksilver 25w40, my personal boat gets it, has for years, the 25w40 is a non issue. These engines work hard and the oil gets hot, this keeps oil pressure up.

This is just from the race gas. It's so dry the cylinders rust. Big issue on dirt track cars, they race them throw them in the trailer and pull the plugs a couple days later and they will be rusty.
