Re: starting engine in cold weather

put a 60-100 watt lamp an inch from the front bowl for an hour. once the carb gets to 80-95F it will start like a warm day. if it has sat more than a week, i add fresh gas into the bowl vent with a small funnel. i put 1-2oz into a small can, then into the carb. this is with fresh pump gas. pump it 6...

Re: Hydrocarbon refigerant . Do or not Do?

in 2008 i replaced the HVAC heat pump/ac.
at first i wanted the new.
but for a new 3 ton system the old R22 was about 30% less amps! Higher working pressure on the new, about 30% higher #-o
my ac use here in FL stays under $34/month!

Re: starting engine in cold weather

8 years ago was my last FLAME backfire. i used to have to wait 2 minutes #-o before i could drive off on a 40'sF morning.
now it pulls out within 5 seconds! no choke! (have to pump throttle a bit as i back out)
see article in sig.

Re: What ever happened to Matt Gruber?

Yes my website is gone. WebTV was way ahead of its time, cloud based in 1998. Microsoft bought webtv many years ago, and closed it down 9-13. So for 15 years i had a free site, no hard drive, and never even tried to backup a file. it was all in the cloud. never bought any software, all free from web...

Re: upgrade the 415...

It is rare on speedtalk to have someone want street manners.
With a dual plane you can get much better manners AND can run 8-20 degrees more duration than a single plane. see my article below, RAS has a LS3 with EFI and a dual plane.

Re: new cam question

my advice, since you have a 6000 rpm limit, is to put in a stroker kit. 383+ then the big engine + new cam you picked will make quite a difference.

Re: Engine manifold vacuum

more vacuum can close the PV, leaning it out and it will lose power, so a high pv is often needed with a 2 bbl. can double up the pv spring for a quick test.

Re: Increasing back pressure helps/hurts controlling detonat

IF the exhaust pressure increase has the effect of more exhaust gas remaining in the cylinder at overlap, the resulting drop in ignited cylinder pressure will increase the detonation threshold. Doesn't power drop with less cyl pressure? So if the throttle has to be opened more, to get equal power, ...

cost of 760 hot laps in a 2013 ZL1 Camaro, 89 mph ave

quick estimate $40,000 plus gas plus the cost of the car! see sept '13 page 22 Car & Driver, Circuit Training article. Tires cost the most, i'm using $300 per tire, 36 sets of front, 18 sets of rears. Then 60 brake rotors, and 15 sets of pads. only 36 tanks of gas (2210 miles). Test on GM provin...

Re: BBC Carb tune

wet plug? is not from extended idling. it is flooding, if it is gas not oil. often casused by dirt on needle, or high fuel psi etc. fix this first! and my rule is NO EXTENDED IDLING, that gives ZERO MPG. . having 2 sensors can really help on a fully divided dual plane, IF a sensor is placed in each ...

Re: Upcoming Oil Extreme Concentrate Testing

i tested some grease once. i asked for the best high temp grease at NAPA. he gave me name brand SYNTHETIC, very expensive. put it in a frying pan next to kmart grease. the expensive grease dried out and the kmart grease looked new! showed NAPA guy and he gave me a refund. . RAT tests when each oil s...
