Re: So which heads will get my 358 in the high 10's

Ive made every head you have on your list go 10's in Street strip cars with 355ci. Like Knight said!!!! Your combo just needs to work better together. Cam for sure and those sportsman heads can be made pretty good. The Holley Strip dominator is hard to beat out of the box with port matching. If you ...

Re: Ideal head runner cfm/flow?

I have seen some of the HVH heads before years ago, they were good IMO. Velocity in the intake track will be key. Not from experience, but your combo looks pretty good. I'm sure Jones cam will be pretty good. Experience is key!
Good luck with your project.

Re: Better Head Choice for my 406?

I think the heads are fine. total induction needs to be addressed with the proper pieces to reach your goal.
We have ran those heads in aluminum for years with great success. 600hp should no be an issue.

Re: 100# SEAT PRESSURE ON ROLLER CAM

I have no way to test this stuff but in the last few years we have been cutting seat pressure. Good stuff, semi light- Titanium intake valves and retainers. I have mapped the weights and look at cam profile. Only educated guess work here. But have had nothing but good success. I'm a firm believer of...

Yes.
I have done several for customers that switched everything over from their 363 castings.
They have an updated casting and its very good.

Re: DARTS 9* MISTAKE

Its probably a issue with the combo...
Like the Pro-14 degree stuff in there beginning. Not saying they may not perform well, maybe they just need something that's not being given.

Re: 4 Barrel intake for Nissan V6

If your trying to use that lower it may not be optimum. But you could build a bread box with a carb flange.

What does the head layout look like?

Rougher the flute faster you'll need to turn them to cut smooth. 4-6 flutes I spin pretty good, but also keep them moving fast.

Re: lift vs compression

Most will build the engine around what they are building it for, not just one thing fixes all. Sure, having more compression .5 more compression will help. But at some point the rolls will be reversed to some extent. IMO, Both compression and lift are two separate things. They don't have to work tog...

Re: gasket matched vortec head, is it junk now?

Personally I don't think it is ruined. Someone port matched it, maybe not the most clean job. But dont think there is much going on in that part of the head to kill it.
It would not scare me.
