Re: Combustion Chamber ?'s
I did. Have read/heard a lot of back and forth over needing to retreat the head for hardness. I don't pretend to know if that is in fact a need (rehardening). If it is, that would not really be a cost effective solution in my case. There is another casting version (287/445) that has a more tradition...

Re: Combustion Chamber ?'s
Stock gaskets are .065" installed. Can get sectional pics of the ports ... just need a few to find 'em.

For reference deck is about .375" thick.

Re: Combustion Chamber ?'s
.070-.075" should do the trick. Looking toward 30-35psi intercooled gas. Looking for no more than 8.5:1 A camshaft will be made for the final combination .. I still think stock belt tensioner will work. Stock 40.6mm intake will be replaced with 42-44mm valve, haven't decided yet. Max rpm 7000 s...

Re: Combustion Chamber ?'s
I'll more than likely do just that when all is said and done. The chamber needs a little work and a milling will bring down the new volume. It will be close(r).

Combustion Chamber ?'s
http://turbosunleashed.com/shop/flow-tested-performance-cylinder-heads-valves-pi-191.html There are a couple of structures within these combustion chambers that I don't quite understand. The "notch" in the deck @ the "vee" between the valves ... and the spark plugs "boss&quo...

Re: Timing light device to knock out competitor's computer
I have one of these devices. They have two selectable settings. The "EMP" setting and a very "low frequency generation" setting. Most here think the EMP setting is the trick .... oh, no. When staged, the EMP is used to get the driver out of the car looking under the hood scratchi...

Re: BBC rod bearing failure
Interesting thread with good info. I have to ask a question though that is directed toward Brent's use of a cooler and remote filter. A couple fellas stated that they thought it wasn't a good idea and I don't understand why it would matter? This might dovetail in with the oil sucking the pan dry thi...

Re: turbo compression question
I know a few that have run 12.5:1 @ 50 lbs boost(blower, not turbo, shouldn't matter) , those folks tell me anything higher starts breaking the aluminum rods due to work hardening. I don't know that to be true, just repeating what I've heard on that. The tune get's more critical the higher static y...

Re: hydraulic lifters
I'll take a stab at this Danny ... but I'm going to compare it to a HLA which is pretty familiar to me. They work on the same principle. Spring pressure does have an effect on bleed down. The more pressure (squeeze) exerted on the adjuster, more oil will flow out. ... and yes, they purge through the...
